A village of Nithsdale in Dumfries and Galloway, Kirkland lies on the Cairn Water, 2 miles (3 km) east of Moniaive. It comprises some Tudor-style cottages of the 19th Century and in the kirkyard of the Gothic-style Glencairn Parish Church (1836) stand the ruins of an earlier church and the mausoleum of the Gillespies of Parton.
