Dumfries and Galloway

A hamlet in Dumfries and Galloway, Glenlochar lies on the River Dee just west of Townhead of Greenlaw and 3 miles (5 km) northwest of Castle Douglas. During the 1st and 2nd centuries AD the Romans occupied forts in the neighbourhood. A hydro-electric barrage of the Galloway Water power scheme was built here in the 1930s.
