Dinwoodie

Dumfries and Galloway

A location and former estate in Annandale, Dumfries and Galloway, Dinwoodie is situated 6 miles (10 km) north northwest of Lockerbie. Dinwoodie Lodge is now a hotel, with the farm of Dinwoodie Mains a quarter-mile (0.5 km) to the northeast and Dinwoodie Green 1¼ miles (2 km) to the south. Both the railway and A74(M) motorway pass by, although there was once a railway station at Dinwoodie which closed in 1960. An enclosure on the southeastern slopes of Broomhillbank Hill is referred to on early Ordnance Survey maps as Dinwoodie Grave Yard and is said to have been related to a chapel which belonged to the Knights Templar.
