Barns

(Barnes)
Scottish Borders

A small settlement comprising a scattering of cottages in the S of the Scottish Borders, Barns is situated a quarter-mile (0.5 km) northwest of Stobs Castle. Older Ordnance Survey maps record the name as Barnes, and this name persists for some of the features on modern maps. The Barnes Burn flows through Barnes Loch and under the Barnes Viaduct, also known as the Stobs Viaduct. The former Stobs Military Camp lies immediately to the northwest.
