Quoys

A colourful social housing scheme lying immediately to the southwest of Sound, on the outskirts of Lerwick in Shetland, Quoys comprises 117 houses and flats constructed by Hjaltland Housing Association, their largest project to date. Completed in 2012, the £14.4 million scheme was built in three phases over seven years. The first two phases were designed by Dundee-based architects Baxter, Clark & Paul, while the final phase was the work of Richard Gibson Architects of Lerwick. The building work was carried out by the local firm of E&H Building Contractors. The scheme includes 13 plots for private houses and a new Baptist church. All the properties will be connected to the Lerwick District Heating Scheme.
