Skaw

A little cluster of crofts which represent Britain's most northern settlement, Skaw is located on the northeast coast of the island of Unst in Shetland, 1½ miles (2.5 km) north northeast of Norwick. The settlement lies on the Wick of Skaw, which receives the Burn of Skaw from the west. RAF Skaw was a chain home RADAR station developed on Lamba Ness to the southeast during the Second World War. A LORAN radio navigation station also operated here. A considerable number of abandoned buildings, which once formed part of these stations, remain.
