Garngaber

A settlement which has now been absorbed into Lenzie in East Dunbartonshire, Garngaber is shown as a farm lying to the south of the Glasgow-Edinburgh railway on the First Edition of the Ordnance Survey map of 1858 which had grown into a hamlet squeezed between a triangle of railways by the time of the Second Edition (1896). The Garngaber Branch of the railway peels off from the mainline here, to serve collieries to the southeast. This situation persisted until the middle of the 20th C.
