Scarinish

Argyll and Bute

The principal village on the island of Tiree in the Inner Hebrides, Scarinish lies on the south coast between Hynish Bay to the southwest and Gott Bay to the northeast. Its harbour, now used by lobster fishers, was built in 1771 and nearby is a ferry terminal with links to Oban, and Coll. A link-span pier, constructed in 1991, for the first time allowed vehicles to easily drive on and off the ferry. The award-winning An Turas Ferry Shelter opened in 2003. The primary school here closed in 1974.
