The hamlet of Abbotrule is located on the Forderlee Burn, 2 miles (3 km) northeast of the village of Bonchester Bridge and 8 miles (12 km) northeast of Hawick in the Scottish Borders. The ruins of a church lie to the southeast of Abbotrule. This hamlet was once within the Abbotrule Estate, an estate which extended to 960 ha (2348 acres) in size.
