A village of Teviotdale in the Scottish Borders, Ancrum lies 3 miles (5 km) northwest of Jedburgh near the junction of the Ale Water with the Teviot. New or Nether Ancrum replaced the old market centre of Old Ancrum to become a burgh of barony in 1639. Ancrum House on the site of Old Ancrum was demolished c.1970. The Harestanes Visitor Centre lies to the east.
