Fionnphort

Argyll and Bute

A hamlet and ferry-port on the Ross of Mull (Argyll and Bute), Fionnphort overlooks the Sound of Iona, 35 miles (56 km) west of Oban. A passenger ferry leaves from here for the short crossing to Iona. There is also a shop, post office, restaurant, cafe, public house, an Argyll College UHI Learning Centre and the Columba Centre. Fishing boats land crabs and lobsters at the pier. A granite quarry operated between 1831 and 1910 to the north at Tormore.
