A whisky distilling settlement on the south coast of the island of Islay in the Inner Hebrides, Lagavulin lies 2 miles (3 km) east of Port Ellen, between the distilling villages of Laphroaig and Ardbeg. Claiming to be the oldest in Scotland, the distillery here opened in 1816.
