Situated at the northern end of Machrihanish Bay, on the west coast of the Kintyre peninsula of Argyll and Bute Council Area, Ballevain (also Ballivain or Balivean) lies 5 miles (8 km) northwest of Campbeltown. There are farms at Low Ballevain and High Ballevain, separated by a half-mile (1 km).
