A small hamlet and former parish in the Strathbogie district of NE Aberdeenshire, Ythanwells (occasionally Wells of Ythan) lies at the source of the River Ythan, 7 miles (11 km) east of Huntly and 8 miles (13 km) southwest of Turriff. Its church dates from 1864. The remains of a Roman marching camp are located 1¼ miles (2 km) to the east.
