Auchleven
Aberdeenshire

A small village in the parish of Premnay, Aberdeenshire, Auchleven lies on the Gadie Burn 2 miles (3 km) south of Insch. Once a textile village with a carding and spinning mill, the settlement was given easier access to the south with the building of a bridge across the Burn in 1836. To the southeast Hermit Seat rises to 477m (1564 feet) and, on its northwest facing slope, the 16th-century Lickleyhead Castle overlooks the village.
