A village in an Aberdeenshire parish of the same name, Belhelvie lies to the west of Balmedie, 7 miles (11 km) north of Aberdeen. The village was home to Rev. Alexander Forsyth (1769 - 1848), parish minister and inventor of the percussion cap.
