A location in mid-Aberdeenshire, Thainstone lies to the west of the River Urie, a mile (1.5 km) south of Inverurie. Once the seat of the Forbes-Mitchells, an earlier mansion here house was destroyed by the Jacobites in 1745. Thainstone Agricultural Centre provides industrial units for agricultural service industries.
