Cookney


Aberdeenshire

A hamlet a parish of the same name in Aberdeenshire, Cookney lies 2 miles (3 km) west of Muchalls and 5 miles (8 km) north of Stonehaven, on the edge of the Red Moss. Kirkton of Cookney lies immediately to the south of the main settlement and its church was built c.1817 as a chapel of ease. There are subsidiary settlements at Cookney Stables and South Cookney, and a farm at North Cookney.
