Glenbervie

Aberdeenshire

A village at the northern edge of the Howe of the Mearns in Aberdeenshire, Glenbervie lies between the larger villages of Auchenblae and Drumlithie. Ancestors of the poet Robert Burns who farmed at Clochnahill are buried in the churchyard at Glenbervie. These tombstones were restored by the Glenbervie Burns Memorial Committee and re-dedicated in 1968. Also of interest in the churchyard are the remains of the ancient Douglas aisle. The church was rebuilt in 1826 and nearby is Glenbervie house which dates from the 17th Century. There is a local food processing industry.
