Careston

A location with a 15th-century castle, school and church, Careston lies in the Angus parish of Careston, 5 miles (8 km) west of Brechin. The parish, sometimes known as Caraldston, is said to have taken its name from a stone commemorating a Danish chieftain. The primary school here closed in 2004.
