A location in Nithsdale, Dumfries and Galloway, Kirkconnell comprises the Kirkconnell Merse and Kirkconnell Flow by the River Nith and Kirkconnell House, 6 miles (10 km) south of Dumfries. Kirkconnell House is an extension of a tower house that was a stronghold of the Maxwells. An 18th-century addition to the house was built of bricks made on the estate.
