Aberchalder
Highland

Located at the northeast end of Loch Oich, 5 miles (8 km) southwest of Fort Augustus in Highland Council Area sits the small settlement of Aberchalder. Nearby lies the Caledonian Canal, in particular that section linking Loch Oich with Loch Ness, and a regulating lock has been constructed here. At nearby Aberchalder Lodge, Prince Charles Edward Stuart (Bonnie Prince Charlie) gathered over 2000 men in August 1745 for his march to the Scottish lowlands. The small settlements of Easter and Wester Aberchalder lie some distance away to the east of Loch Mhor, 13 miles (21 km) of northeast of Aberchalder.
