Milton of Campsie
East Dunbartonshire
A dormitory village in Strathkelvin, Milton of Campsie lies on the Glazert Water at the foot of the Campsie Fells, 2 miles (3 km) west of Kirkintilloch and 9 miles (15 km) north of Glasgow. A former milltown settlement, it developed in the late 18th and early 19th centuries in association with a printworks. An infectious diseases hospital was erected in the early 1950s and watch manufacturing was undertaken in the village until the mid 1980s.
