Bishopbriggs
East Dunbartonshire

Situated 3 miles (5 km) north of Glasgow, south of the Forth and Clyde Canal, the town of Bishopbriggs has developed since the 18th Century in association with coal mining, brickmaking, quarrying, engineering and publishing. A rail-connected oil and gas depot which was established in the 1970s closed in the 1990s. A prison is located at Low Moss. Prior to being incorporated into Strathkelvin District in 1975, it had for just over a decade been a burgh town. Bishopbriggs has three high schools and a retail and industrial park at Westerhill.
