Lamlash

North Ayrshire

Situated 4 miles (6.5 km) south of Brodick on the island of Arran within North Ayrshire, the village of Lamlash is the island's largest settlement. It is popular with holiday makers; the deep harbour provides good protection for boats, shielded as it is from the Firth of Clyde by Holy Isle. Arran High School, Lamlash Primary School, Arran War Memorial Hospital, Arran Outdoor Centre, several hotels, two caravan parks, a community centre, police station, fire station, lifeboat station and a post office are all located here. The wreck of the brigantine Derwent from 1880 lies in the bay and can be visited by divers.

Margaret Burgess MSP, Minister for Housing and Welfare, opened a development of 56 new homes at St. Molios Park on 1st November 2013. This £8.9-million project comprised a mixture of houses for social rent and shared equity sale.
