Portnancon

(Port-na-Con)
Highland

A small crofting township and old fishing station on the west coast of Loch Eriboll, Portnancon (or Port-na-Con, meaning "port of the dogs") is located a mile (1.5 km) northeast of Laid and 5 miles (8 km) south southeast of Durness. Only a few buildings remain in use, with several others in ruins. The pier was also used by a ferry that crossed the loch until c.1930.
