Garmouth

(Garmouth Kingston)
Moray

The village of Garmouth is located on the west bank of the mouth of the River Spey in Moray Council Area. Situated 8 miles (12 km) east of Elgin, Garmouth is linked to the village of Kingston, which lies directly to the north. Founded by the Innes family as a fishing centre and timber export port, it was here that King Charles II returned from exile, signing the Solemn League and Covenant as he came ashore on 23rd June 1650.
