A small scattered settlement on the west coast of North Uist in the Outer Hebrides, Balranald (Gael: Baille Raghnill) is located a mile (1.5 km) north of Paiblesgarry and 1¼ miles (2 km) southeast of Hougharry. Rare corncrakes can be seen on Balranald Nature Reserve to the west and Balranald House is Category C-listed. Kilmuir Paible Church lies alone at the side of the A865 road here.
