Sollas (Solas) Western Isles A crofting township at the northern end of North Uist in the Western Isles, Sollas (Gael: Solas) lies 5 miles (8 km) east of Griminish Point. The settlement benefits from a church, shop and a picnic area which commemorates the clearance of crofters from the land in the 1840s. Sollas Community Centre (Taigh Sgire Scholais) opened in 2012, a conversion of the former Dunskellar School, funded by the Big Lottery. This includes a café and local art exhibition.
