A crofting township on the east coast of Lewis, Back (Gael: Bac) lies 6 miles (10 km) northeast of Stornoway in the Outer Hebrides. Back benefits from a sizeable school (1965) and a Free Church (1891). To the southwest is the village of Coll and to the north Gress.
