The crofting township of North Tolsta is located on the eastern coastline of the Isle of Lewis in the Western Isles, 2 miles (3 km) west of Tolsta Head. North Tolsta benefits from a primary school (opened in 1977), a community centre, a post office, and the North Tolsta Historical Society, revitalised in 1999 and based in the former schoolhouse.
