A small 19th Century settlement located to the northeast of Glasgow City centre, Provanmill has developed as a residential suburb, the site of inter-war housing development built in response to the city's programme of slum clearances. Over 300 cottage flats were built, of varying designs, and this scheme was pushed northward to include parts of Robroyston
