A settlement in a parish of the same name, Glencorse has become a northeastern district of Penicuik, lying 1¼ miles (2 km) from the town centre, immediately to southwest of Milton Bridge. Glencorse Barracks were first developed in 1803 and are now home to the Royal Highland Fusiliers. Glencorse House and the ruined 17th C. parish church lie a quarter-mile (0.5 km) to the north. The current church dates from 1883 and is the work of Robert Rowand Anderson (1834 - 1921). The settlement also benefits from a primary school. Glencorse Reservoir lies 2 miles (3 km) to the northwest.
