Milton of Finavon

Angus

A hamlet in Angus, Milton of Finavon lies just south of the River South Esk, 4 miles (6 km) northeast of Forfar. A hill-fort to the southeast dates from the mid-1st millennium BC and a ruined castle nearby was the chief stronghold of the Lindsay earls of Crawford. Near the road from Milton of Finavon to Oathlaw is the Finavon Doocot which is believed to be the largest double-chambered lectern style of doocot in Scotland.
