Stirling

A location in Stirling Council Area, the scattered settlement of Row (pronounced 'roo') which lies to the north of the River Teith, a mile (1.5 km) to the southeast of Doune, comprises Row, together with farms at Wester Row, Easter Row and Hillside of Row. The pink-harled house at Row and the farmhouse, steading and horsemill at Hillside of Row were designed by J.L. Fogo who is noted for his work on the design of the Royal and Ancient Clubhouse at St. Andrews. The Protestant reformer John Row (c.1525 - 1580) is associated with this locality. The David Stirling Memorial lies on the B824 road close to Hillside of Row.
