Cambusbarron

Stirling

Separated from the Stirling conurbation by the M80 motorway, Cambusbarron is an ancient village and former spinning and woollen manufacturing settlement of SE Stirling Council Area. The Parkvale and Hayford Mills, the latter founded by the Smiths in 1860 and still surviving, once employed more than 1000 people. The Bruce Memorial Church (1910) stands on the site of a chapel where Robert the Bruce is said to have taken sacrament on the eve of the Battle of Bannockburn.
