Carie

Perth and Kinross

A location in Perth and Kinross, Carie lies at the mouth of the Carie Burn where it enters the south side of Loch Rannoch, 4 miles (6 km) west of Kinloch Rannoch. Carie was the ancient seat of the Robertsons of Struan but the estate was taken from them owing to their support of the Jacobites in 1745. In the later 18th Century the Forfeited Estates Commissioners operated a sawmill here, processing timber extracted from the Black Wood of Rannoch. Kilvrecht Campsite is located in the forest here. There is another Carie on the north shore of Loch Tay 12 miles (19 km) to the south.
