Moulinearn

Perth and Kinross

A location in Perth and Kinross, Moulinearn lies sandwiched between the A9 road and the River Tay, 2 miles (3 km) southwest of Pitlochry. Once noted for its Atholl brose (porridge made with whisky), Moulinearn is the site of a government inn or Kingshouse built during the mid-18th-century to house travellers on the newly created military road. The explorer Sir Alexander Mackenzie, who gave his name to the Mackenzie River in Canada, died here in 1820.
