Hardengreen

Midlothian

A location lying a half-mile (1 km) to the south of Eskbank in Midlothian. Hardengreen House dates from 1796, was extended c.1830 and is now C-listed. This was also the site of a former railway junction, where the Peebles Railway split from the main Waverley Line south through the Borders, but it closed with the rest of the line in 1969. In 2015, Eskbank Railway station opened here on the rejuvenated Borders Railway, and Hardengreen also includes the Dalkeith Campus of Edinburgh College (with the associated Dalkeith Solar Meadow), Hardengreen Business Park and a large supermarket.
