Larriston

Scottish Borders

A location on the Liddel Water in the Scottish Borders. The location is connected to the Elliot family and the Elliots of Larriston are the subject of the traditional song Lock the door Larriston by James Hogg (1770 - 1835). Nothing remains of their home, Larriston Tower, which is shown on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map (1863) at Upper Larriston, next to the former Larriston Lime Works, although this location is disputed.
