Ranish

A linear crofting village of the Lochs district on the Isle of Lewis, Ranish (also Raerinish, Gael: Ranais) is strung out at the end of the B 897 road to the south of Loch Grimshader, at the neck of the Aird Ranish peninsula, 5½ miles (9 km) south southwest of Stornoway. Facilities include the Lochs Free Church and a jetty on Loch Grimshader. The Fidigary Primary School, at the western edge of the village, closed in 1999.
