A locality in NE Angus, Pitkennedy lies 1¼ miles (2 km) east southeast of Aberlemno and 5½ miles (9 km) east northeast of Forfar. It comprises a farm, the Muir of Pitkennedy, the Wood of Pitkennedy and the Bog of Pitkennedy, which was the site of Pitkennedy School that closed in 2005. This was the work of local architect John Ramsay in 1847 and features some of his quirky details in the stonework. The restoration of this school as a private home was featured in the BBC television programme Restoration Home in 2013.
