Altgaltraig
Argyll and Bute

A settlement overlooking the Kyles of Bute in Argyll and Bute Council Area, Altgaltraig is located a mile (1.4 km) southeast of Colintraive. The settlement is divided between Upper Altgaltraig, on the slopes a quarter-mile northeast of Altgaltraig Point, and Lower Altgaltraig on the foreshore a half-mile (0.7 km) to the southeast, with the little development of Kyles View between. The picturesque Colintraive Church is located at Lower Altgaltraig, built in 1840 by Mrs Campbell of Southhall as a chapel of ease. It became the Free Church in 1843, the United Free in 1900 and, through unification, returned to the Church of Scotland in 1929.
