A location and an estate in Stoneykirk Parish, Dumfries and Galloway, Balgreggan is situated in The Rhins of Galloway just west of Sandhead village. Balgreggan House, which once sat amongst deciduous woodland, was a mansion built in 1730 to a design by William Adam for John McDowall, but demolished in 1966. A quarter-mile (0.5 km) to the northeast is Balgreggan Motte, is a distinctive structure, 18m (60 feet) in height and located on the terrace above a raised beach.
