Grantshouse

Scottish Borders

A hamlet of the Scottish Borders lying on the Eye Water and the A1 trunk road running south to England. Grantshouse is situated at the eastern extent of the Lammermuir Hills, 9 miles (14 km) west of Eyemouth and 7½ miles (12 km) north of Duns. The East Coast Main Line railway passes through the hamlet, although its station closed in 1964, the victim of the Beeching cuts. The disused Grantshouse Quarry lies immediately to the south.
