Achiemore

Highland

A settlement on the western shore of the Kyle of Durness in Sutherland, Achiemore was once a small crofting township in the remote North West Highlands with a little one-room school which closed in 1947. Since the Ministry of Defence took over much of The Parph as a military range there has been no permanent population here. Today there are a couple of buildings remaining, several enclosures and much evidence of past cultivation. A brightly-painted hut and barrier, which control access to the military range, are also located here.
