Achnashellach


Highland

A location in Glen Carron, Wester Ross, Highland Council Area, Achnashellach lies on the West Highland Railway to the northeast of Loch Carron. Achnashellach Forest extends to the southeast of the A890 road which links Achnasheen and Lochcarron.

On 2nd December 1948, the highest-ever December temperature in the UK of 18.3°C was recorded at Achnashellach. This record was retained until 2019, when a slightly higher temperature was recorded at Achfary, 60 miles (96 km) to the north northeast.
