Easter Bush

Midlothian

A location in N Midlothian, once the site of one of the Bush Estate farms, Easter Bush is now dominated by the University of Edinburgh's BioCampus, which includes the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies, together with its associated veterinary hospitals, the UK Forestry Commission's Northern Research Station and the Roslin Institute.

The Bush Estate (including Easter Bush) was acquired by the University in 1947. A Veterinary Field Station was established here in 1962, followed by a Centre for Tropical Veterinary Medicine seven years later. Both buildings were the work of architect Alan Reiach (1910-92).
