Gloup

Shetland

A settlement on the north coast of the island of Yell in Shetland, Gloup lies on the east side of Gloup Voe 2½ miles (4 km) northwest of Cullivoe. A large memorial here commemorates the fifty-eight fishermen who died in a storm on 21st July 1881, many of whom came from Gloup, representing the majority of the male population of the area.
