Cuiashader

(Cuidhaseadair, Cuidhsiadar)
Western Isles

A partially abandoned crofting township on the E coast of the Isle of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides, Cuiashader (Gael: Cuidhaseadair) is located 2 miles (3 km) northwest of Cellar Head and 2¼ miles (3.5 km) south of Skigersta. The First Edition of the Ordnance Survey map shows ruined crofts in 1853 but, at the beginning of the 21st century, several buildings remain in use as shielings and are B-listed for their importance.
